Participants are drawn from a unique population (twins) from a tightly-defined geographic region. In addition, participants are sampled from a vulnerable population (children), many of whom are ethnic minorities and/or live in low income contexts. Finally participants provide highly sensitive psychological, economic, academic, and genetic information. Thus because of the vulnerable status of many participants in the sample, the strong potential for deductive identification, and the sensitive nature of the information collected, data from the Texas Twin Project are not shared with individuals outside of the research team.
