Data Availability
The data underlying this article cannot be shared publicly due to Ecuador government regulations that the Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health must approve the research protocol to release reusable COVID-19 datasets. Vital statistics may be available upon request to the Ecuadorian Civil Registry and will be publicly available through the Institute of Statistics and Census according to its statistics calendar. Mobility data used in this paper were provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and GRANDATA, under the umbrella of UNDP's call for papers "Exploring impact and response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America and the Caribbean using mobility data", to promote policy-oriented research on the COVID-19 pandemic effects in LAC. Findings, interpretations, and conclusions are from the authors and do not necessarily represent UNDP's views. The data may be shared upon reasonable request to the corresponding authors.
