We see that more than half of the respondents exhibit low levels of mental well-being and high psychological distress, with 81% being at risk of depression and 57% having severe psychological distress. Refugees and internally displaced people in our sample show a particularly high risk of depression and severe psychological distress. Nevertheless, the majority of Ukrainians seeking psychological help still work, study, or volunteer, and those who do have relatively alleviated mental levels of well-being.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementThis study was funded by the University of Kassel International Center for Higher Education Research (Germany) Author DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:The Central Ethics Committee of the University of Kassel gave ethical approval for this work on 25/05/2022 (Approval letter ref: zEK-33).
